Every little effort to save battery on your smartphone will give bigger returns in the form of lesser time on the charger.

Smartphones are reaching for the horizon these days with ground-breaking features but bog down in one major area — battery life. With no major innovation in battery technology, manufacturers have only two options — either invest in a new battery technology or depend on software tricks. Therefore, saving power instead of using some other way is the only option left for users.
That said, battery saving is an uphill task as smartphones are becoming increasingly sophisticated with lots of processes going in the background. Therefore, following the right steps to let that small box on the top-right corner of your smartphone stays green for an extended duration will let you worry less about the presence of a wall socket in your vicinity. You can check out some of these minute steps that can let your phone complete the marathon that you intend it to run.
1. Don’t let your phone die. Your smartphone is just like a car — you need to keep the fuel in the engine flowing instead of waiting for the tank to drain completely. The electrons in the battery need to be charged so that they flow and keep the Lithium Polymer compound effective for a longer duration of time.
2. Switch off your phone at least once in the day. The eggheads at Apple recommend this for every smartphone for reasons unexplainable to the world. It could be possible that switching off a phone can kill most of the unnecessary background apps and rebooting it can refresh the OS’ memory.
3. Don’t expose your phone to extreme temperatures. If the device heats up, then the phone’s temperature control system comes into play as well as the battery’s chemical is also affected. If you use it in extremely cold conditions, then the phone will draw additional power to keep the electrons flowing through its circuits.
4. Charge frequently throughout the day. This puts less strain on the battery's chemistry and enhances the overall battery life in the long run.
5. Activate low power mode. Modern smartphones can cut down on useless applications running in the background, hogging precious resources, through power saving modes.
6. Disable location services. This reduces unnecessary usage of the power-sucking modules like GPS and Internet.
7. Kill background apps. Both Android and iOS provide easy ways to kill multiple active apps in one tap. The lesser apps stay in the memory, the more power your phone saves.
8. Turn off window animations. Animations are an additional process for a smartphone and as we said previously, the lesser the process for the processor, the more power your phone can save.
9. Turn-off auto-update apps. Not only this saves battery power but you data pack is also saved.
10. Use darker wallpapers on AMOLED displays. AMOLED displays produce stunning picture quality. Due to the way they work (), using wallpapers with darker shades can help reduce strain on your phone’s battery.
