Facebook is trying to conquer every area of the mobile communication, either by launching its own new services, or by acquisitions of some already popular services, just like it did with Instagram and Whatsapp Messenger.
Now, Facebook has launched another Chat app but this time it is directed towards business users or enterprise solutions. Facebook has launched an app for Windows and Mac OS named Workplace Chat. Thus, the app is basically limited only to the desktop users.

Facebook Workplace is expected to compete with Google's Hangouts and Microsoft's Slack both of which have already placed their feet strong in the enterprise area. The main features of this app include real-time screen sharing with other users. This feature really comes handy in business use when presentations have to be discussed or delivered.
That said, the app is still in Beta so it may be a while till the app reaches its full potential or it may reach into consumer's hands. You can try the app for yourself now but given its purpose of use, you may hardly like it.
